Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Sunday, 1 November 2026 (Day 243)

One order filled nine of ten Iranian front pages on the morning of 1 November, in wording that varies only by compression: every level and type of threat is to be met with an immediate and effective response, without geographical limitation, and the target bank is to be updated so that the material and immaterial assets of the American-Zionist enemy come within range. The proof that it was distributed, not agreed, is in the business papers. Charsoo, an economic daily, gave its entire front page to one portrait and the order with no economic item above the fold; Taadol, the Chamber of Cooperatives paper, led on maximum deterrence. Two titles then supplied the geography the order leaves open: Vatan-e Emrooz printed a map whose filled markers include Diego Garcia and Port of Duqm, and Javan composited an English-language inventory of 128 American bases in 46 countries onto a missile, on the same morning the Foreign Ministry designated the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force terrorist organisations. Underneath all of it the diplomatic track moved. The English state daily carried the foreign minister calling American dialogue efforts a positive step while the same man told the Persian channel Iran sees no need to meet the Americans; Jomhuri Eslami printed that Tehran had answered the Vance letter, which the letter's own recipient had denied hours earlier; and the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council stated plainly that no decision has been taken to change the nuclear doctrine. Lebanon took more than fifty strikes overnight and appeared on no front page at all. Our combined daily intelligence report for the same date, merged here, adds the hardline gloss on the order: Kayhan's lead column and the chief of the General Staff read "immediate" as license to fire before an attack begins, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council says he has read the Vance letter and not replied, an Iranian delegation is in Doha, and the factional fight over Qatar, the letter and the FATF has sharpened.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Saturday, 31 October 2026 (Day 242)

The Vance letter crossed from the Telegram channels onto four Iranian front pages in a single cycle, and every one of them gave it the same reading. Farhikhtegan ran a full-page photograph of the US Vice President under «هویجِ پروژه چماق», the carrot of the stick project; Jam-e Jam coined «فریب‌نامه جدید», the new letter of deception; Qods captioned him «واشنگتن در محاصره تناقض‌ها»; and Etemad asked why America talks of negotiation while threatening the power plants. The operative sentence is in Javan, the Revolutionary Guard's daily, which printed the recipient, the Qatari carrier and the clock: Tehran shows no inclination to answer before the US midterms on 3 November. Underneath that, a second story: revision of Iran's nuclear doctrine appeared on three of eight Persian front pages on one morning, framed by Tehran's Friday prayer leader as a national demand and routed as expert proposals to the Leader's desk, while the Guard's navy claimed a third and then a fourth tanker on the Strait of Hormuz southern route and the agencies put the forty-eight-hour total at eight. Kayhan built its whole lead out of Western cost admissions and printed no Iranian damage claim above the fold; Ta'adol printed the number that bounds all of it, empty tankers and thirsty markets in Iran's own distillate supply.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Thursday, 29 October 2026 (Day 240)

Nine of ten Iranian front pages led on one word. The Leader's written reply to letters from students was published as a covenant, «هم‌عهد», and six different mastheads from the hardline Javan to the reformist Etemad built their headline out of the same root; an economic daily, Chaharsouq, gave the single word its entire front page and printed no market figure at all. The message instructs study, self-purification and redoubled work toward Iran's «اقتدار», and says nothing about the war. On the same page that carried it, Javan, the daily closest to the Revolutionary Guard, reduced the live Qatari exit draft to «پیشنهاد تقریباً هیچ!», an almost-nothing proposal, before any official Iranian rejection had been published, while Sazandegi gave its whole front page to a reformist party demanding that the war-versus-negotiation binary be dropped for pursuable objectives. Israel's electoral deadlock arrived in force and every outlet framed it as paralysis rather than as anyone's victory, closing the negative-evidence finding filed a cycle ago. The Vance letter, a Turkey venue with a compressed clock, and the reported strike on Saudi Arabia's Ras Tanura all ran on Telegram channels and on no front page at all, while Ta'adol printed the number that governs the whole argument: Mehr-month inflation at the 77 percent threshold.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Wednesday, 28 October 2026 (Day 239)

The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council met the Leader, and the next morning six Iranian front pages printed the same sentence: that Iran's conditions are to be pursued with the aim of ending the war and ending the "neither war, nor peace" condition. One cycle ago a principlist front page was denouncing that formula as a miscalculation. In the same readout the Leader named the management of the Strait of Hormuz and the use of Article 176 of the constitution, and on the same morning the government's paper reported the President raising the Strait with the Emir of Qatar and the Gulf waterway authority warning a named shipping line of legal action from 1 November. An exit is being opened and the chokepoint is being kept, and not one condition has been published. A wider read of 27 publications, added later in the day, finds the exit formula leading most of the press, a count of "seven conditions" with no list attached, Kayhan turning its fire from the security council to Riyadh, the Leader's ideological organs preparing the public for another round, and a cleric's letter in Kayhan asking for a review of the fatwa against weapons of mass destruction.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Tuesday, 27 October 2026 (Day 238)

The defence minister of Saudi Arabia, the commander of Pakistan's armed forces and Turkey's intelligence chief sat down in Tehran with the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, and seven of eight Iranian front pages called it the region's surrender to Iranian security logic. On the same morning the Leader's own paper used its editorial column to call the summit a mirage, to name the council's deputy secretary, and to demand an answer on whether Yemen was being traded. The condition that brought the Saudi minister to Tehran, a month of missile and drone attacks that have closed most of Riyadh's airport, reached one front page out of eight.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Monday, 26 October 2026 (Day 237)

A line from Barack Obama's campaign speech in Cleveland, that Iran now holds a veto over the Strait of Hormuz, ran on five Iranian surfaces including the Leader's own paper, which called it a historic confession and promoted it to doctrine. On the same morning parliament resumed regular plenary business after its Speaker's audience with a Leader no one has seen, and the cycle's one new strategic fact, a Saudi, Pakistani and Turkish security delegation landing in Tehran, reached no front page at all.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Sunday, 25 October 2026 (Day 236)

A single presidential sentence, that the condition of neither war nor peace must end, ran on five of nine front pages and was given five incompatible exits, with the Guard daily ruling out the negotiation the President's own paper argued for. The hardest text of the morning was an admission: Kayhan's managing editor claimed the closure of the Strait of Hormuz as Iran's own sanctions regime and called it a divine gift, on a day the economic press led on a collapse in gold.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Saturday, 24 October 2026 (Day 235)

A conservative Tehran daily gave its entire front page to leaving the Non-Proliferation Treaty, with a signed editorial and a separate news item making the same case beside it, two cycles after the doctrinal question was a single remark in a right-hand box. The same morning two reformist papers and the security council's own wire carried warnings of a prepared American and Israeli strike, and Brent passing 117 dollars became the shared instrument of four factions.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Thursday, 22 October 2026 (Day 233)

The Leader of the Revolution appeared in a photographed, dated meeting for the first time in this monitor's record, and the only instruction the readout carries is for the population to keep turning out. The same morning the IRGC Navy claimed four tankers struck and three mined around the Strait of Hormuz, and the Guard's own daily printed a severed undersea cable as its lead image.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Wednesday, 21 October 2026 (Day 232)

Tehran answered Pakistan's army chief with one published script on his fifth visit, while the negotiated position moved off the front pages. Updated with the Daily Intelligence Report: the hardline press is turning on the mediation track itself, Qatar has publicly rebutted Iran's cable and mine threats, and the economic strain is deepening.

Iranian Press Monitor - Wednesday, 14 October 2026 (Day 225)

The lead judgment of this edition is that the chokepoint doctrine acquired a second domain. Javan, the IRGC-affiliated daily, gave the entire top of its front page, reversed white on red, to «حق وتوی هرمز بر سیلیکون‌ولی», the Hormuz veto over Silicon Valley, and built a legal theory to carry it…

Iranian Press Monitor - Saturday, 10 October 2026 (Day 221)

The lead judgment of this edition is that the Leader is back in print and that the terms of his return are more informative than its fact. Five of the ten front pages carry his Police Week message as a top strap or as the lead: Hamshahri's «فرمان تقویت همه‌جانبه نیروهای حافظ امنیت», Jam-e Jam's…

Iranian Press Monitor - Saturday, 3 October 2026 (Day 214)

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Sunday, 27 September 2026 (Day 208)

The American refusal of Iran's seven-day Hormuz plan reached the Iranian front pages within one cycle, resolving the test this file set yesterday in favour of deadline rather than concealment: Javan leads on it and Vatan-e Emrooz files it as bluster. The batch's most consequential disclosure came from the president, who told Al Jazeera he has met the serving Leader exactly twice, for three hours and for seven and a half. Three papers published incompatible accounts of whether talks exist at all, Lebanon returned to a Persian cover on the Nasrallah anniversary, the air blockade acquired a named Iraqi owner in Prime Minister al-Zaidi, and Kayhan marked the resistance movement's biggest anniversary with a two-year-old quotation from the assassinated predecessor.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Saturday, 26 September 2026 (Day 207)

Iran's foreign minister put a seven-day timetable to Washington and its final clause is the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the one instrument Tehran has held back all war. Two covers lead on it, and the president told Fox News he wants a deal before the American midterms. On the same morning an economic daily printed the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council saying the Strait will not be opened at all, a hardline lead called negotiation a deception operation, and the American rejection of the plan sat on three Iranian channels and no front page. A second blockade opened in the air, and the serving Leader was absent for the third cycle running.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Thursday, 24 September 2026 (Day 205)

Iran's president read a photographic indictment of the United States from the General Assembly rostrum, holding up the portrait of his assassinated predecessor and English-language placards naming the Minab school and the Lamerd sports hall. Every one of the ten front pages in the batch led on it. What changed is what ran beside it: a hardline masthead printed that Iran's sevenfold conditions have been conveyed to Washington, a reformist cover reported the three-hour Iran-United States consultation and called it bargaining, and a second named Araghchi and Witkoff. One cycle after the serving Leader's message ran on every cover, he is absent from all of them.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Wednesday, 23 September 2026 (Day 204)

The serving Leader broke an eight-cycle silence this morning, and he broke it on a school bell: a message for the reopening of schools and universities, printed on every cover in the batch, with no word in it about the war. In New York the same night, Iran's foreign minister met the American envoy with Qatar's prime minister in the room and conveyed three conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. No Iranian front page printed that, and none printed Trump's threat from the General Assembly podium to annihilate the Islamic Republic. What the covers printed instead was the first day of school, seven months after a strike killed 168 people at an elementary school in Minab.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Tuesday, 22 September 2026 (Day 203)

Iran opened Sacred Defense Week this morning, the annual commemoration of the war it fought forty-six years ago, and on the same batch of front pages the case for ending the war it is fighting now surfaced twice. The government's English daily printed the whole negotiating architecture: three conditions, the nuclear file deferred, a bilateral mechanism with Oman and the Salalah venue behind it. A reformist Persian cover printed a proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz under the byline of a journalist the state has repeatedly imprisoned. Nine Persian covers printed a new weapon, Trump's retreat and an American fuel shock, and none of them printed the mechanism.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Monday, 21 September 2026 (Day 202)

Iran put the number seven on a front page this morning and put every neighbour on a target list in the same edition. Two covers print the count of Iran's conditions that only the outlet channels carried a cycle ago, one of them naming Qatar and Pakistan as the route to Washington; five surfaces carry the joint command's warning that any regional state assisting America becomes a target; and four more print the doctrine that makes the two one policy. Beneath it all, the state's own statistics office puts the war quarter at minus ten percent.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Sunday, 20 September 2026 (Day 201)

Iran published a price for ending the war this morning. The Supreme National Security Council's conditions reached three front pages one cycle after this monitor recorded that no Iranian cover would print an argument for a negotiated exit, and the Iranian channels report seven conditions where every front page prints three. The same official declined in the same interview to foreclose the bomb, and the IRGC-affiliated daily printed that half. Meanwhile an Iran-Oman understanding on safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz sits on one channel and on no cover at all.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Saturday, 19 September 2026 (Day 200)

Every Iranian front page this morning printed the same mobilisation figure, 313,000, and the Leader's office daily printed the derivation: one thousand for each of the 313 companions who gather to the Imam of the Age. The measurable turnout test this monitor set up two cycles ago cannot be run, because what was published is a symbol rather than a count. The Hormuz bypass reached a front page at last, as its own negation; and the serving Leader's authority was invoked twice by institutions that are not his office, in a fifth cycle of his silence.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Thursday, 17 September 2026 (Day 198)

One sentence from China's foreign minister in Beijing reached four Iranian front pages as four incompatible sentences, and the IRGC-affiliated daily answered by putting the cost-benefit of the closed Strait of Hormuz on its own cover as a question. A reformist columnist alone reports that Beijing asked for the strait to be reopened; the Bloomberg report that the Saudi bypass pipeline is being restored reached an Iranian channel and no front page at all; and a mobilisation figure grew from 600,000 to 31 million in one cycle without acquiring a source.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Wednesday, 16 September 2026 (Day 197)

Every institutional family in the Iranian press led on the same American document, the Pentagon Inspector General's first audit of the war, and in adopting its authority inherited counts their own outlets exceed by twenty-two aircraft. Alongside it, five titles marked the two hundredth night of the nightly gatherings as a scheduled set-piece written in the imperative mood, a Guard corps advertised a routed mass mobilisation for Friday and dedicated it to the assassinated Leader rather than the serving one, and a principlist front page argued Iran is winning inside the IAEA, which cuts against its own camp's case for leaving the NPT.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Tuesday, 15 September 2026 (Day 196)

The Hormuz settlement track has stopped, and Tehran has no single story about how: three front pages give three incompatible accounts of the Salalah cancellation, while a coordinated argument for leaving the NPT arrives across three institutional families. Updated with a second survey of nineteen front pages from the same morning, which recovers the Etemad, Vatan-e Emrooz and Tehran Times pages, finds the postponement read across the spectrum as Saudi subordination to Washington and turned against the Foreign Ministry's Oman track, raises the count of titles attacking the CBS rescue broadcast to six, gives the NPT-exit case an owned editorial and a 130-signature Majlis statement, and adds the Hormuz enforcement picture, the Yemeni coast and the road to Marib, and the domestic front.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Monday, 14 September 2026 (Day 195)

The lead judgment of this cycle is that the hardline press fractured, in public and on the record, over the Hormuz settlement it had until now opposed in unison. Kayhan, published under the Supreme Leader's office, gives its entire lead to «عمان حافظ منافع آمریکاست / نشست مسقط تله است، مراقب…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Thursday, 3 September 2026 (Day 184)

The Kuhestak wedding strike has unified the Iranian press across factional lines, the memorandum off-ramp printed a day earlier has nearly vanished from the fronts, and Kayhan's editor has proposed sabotage of the Gulf's undersea cables as a new lever. Updated with a second survey of eighteen front pages from the same morning, which adds a five-title campaign against Kargozaran's Hossein Marashi, Kayhan's open ridicule of the President and the Speaker over the memorandum, retaliation reported across five countries including Camp Titin on the Gulf of Aqaba, and economic strain now visible on the front pages of every faction. Updated again with the day's economic press review, which finds the rial rather than the battlefield treated as the clearest measure of pressure, a widening conflict between foreign-exchange enforcement and exporter survival, and a sequencing debate over controls, reform, and de-escalation that is becoming the central economic-political contest inside Iran.

The lead development of the 11 August edition is a personal reassertion of supreme military command. By separate decrees issued in the name of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei (printed by name on Chaharsoo, over the Leader's portrait as 'Commander-in-Chief' on Seda-ye Iran), six senior…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Monday, 10 August 2026 (Day 160)

The lead development of the 10 August edition is a change at the apex of Iran's security architecture. By a decree issued in the name of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei (printed in full on the No-Bonyad front page), Major General Mohsen Rezaei was named the Leader's representative to…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Sunday, 9 August 2026 (Day 159)

The lead judgment of the 9 August edition is a contradiction the system is publishing openly. On one side, the president’s second press conference dominates the fronts with a pro-settlement message rendered in five registers: the government daily Iran ("the current conditions are the best time for…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Saturday, 8 August 2026 (Day 158)

The 8 August front pages carry two stories at once. One is loud and external: the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement that Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan signed the previous day, committing in public to treat an armed attack on one as an attack on all. The other is quieter and internal: a system…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Thursday, 6 August 2026 (Day 156)

The lead judgment of Day 156 is that the maritime file this monitor tracked on 5 August as a quietly drafted accord awaiting the Leader's sign-off has broken into the open as a near-consensus front-page lead. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baqaei is quoted on the record, on Sazandegi's banner…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Wednesday, 5 August 2026 (Day 155)

The lead judgment of Day 155 is that the edition fuses a peak of vengeance-mobilization rhetoric with a categorical denial of any US channel, while the substantive movement of the day sits underneath both in the maritime file. Across the scanned hardline and state fronts, Arba'een is not…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Monday, 3 August 2026 (Day 153)

The lead judgment of Day 153 is that the edition is built on a claimed American climb-down, not an Iranian action: across factional lines the fronts converge on Trump having retreated from a threatened strike, reframed almost uniformly as a serial, repeatable retreat and a vindication of coercive resistance.

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Sunday, 2 August 2026 (Day 152)

The lead judgment of Day 152 is that the edition is built on a claimed adversary climb-down, not an Iranian action. Across factional lines the fronts converge on the same story: the government daily Iran leads on Trump's Truth Social claim that he 'cancelled the attack on Iran'; Kayhan frames him…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Saturday, 1 August 2026 (Day 151)

The lead judgment of Day 151 is that the negotiation question has surfaced from the agency wires onto the front pages themselves, and with it a visible elite fault line. The reformist Sazandegi leads its whole front on 'Israel's withdrawal from Gaza', reporting that Donald Trump has announced a…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Thursday, 30 July 2026 (Day 149)

Day 149 is the edition on which the standing 'fragile ceasefire' thread has to be retired. The June memorandum has given way to open multi-front kinetic exchange, and unusually for this monitor the core of the escalation is corroborated by non-Iranian sources rather than resting on the wires…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Wednesday, 29 July 2026 (Day 148)

Day 148 is a Strait-of-Hormuz edition, and its lead judgment is that the standing chokepoint thread has crossed from asserted friction into a claimed kinetic interdiction. On the agency wires the IRGC Navy states that three 'violating tankers' were struck and stopped (Defa Press 64492, Fars…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Tuesday, 28 July 2026 (Day 147)

Day 147 is a multi-front-pressure edition, and its lead judgment is that the fronts have opened a new potential confrontation axis: a reported attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea. Nobonyad gives its whole front to 'Fear of Iran's response' (هراس از پاسخ ایران), reading…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Monday, 27 July 2026 (Day 146)

Day 146 is a succession-consolidation edition, and its lead judgment is that the dominant move is the decisive front-page return of the Leader's direct voice: the office-aligned press makes Mojtaba Khamenei's reply to a letter from Hezbollah's Secretary-General and fighters the day's centrally-set…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Sunday, 26 July 2026 (Day 145)

Day 145 is an American-retreat amplification edition, and its lead judgment is that the day's dominant framing move is psychological, not kinetic: a cluster of titles converts a New York Times report that the Trump administration paused its escalation against Iran into a narrative of American…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Saturday, 25 July 2026 (Day 144)

Day 144 is a factional-fracture edition, and its lead judgment is that the split over the war's direction has moved from subtext to the front page, fought over control of the state broadcaster. The presidency's Government Information Council and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi publicly accuse Seda…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Thursday, 23 July 2026 (Day 142)

Day 142 is a grievance-and-red-line edition, and its lead judgment is that two escalation frames have merged. The first is a leadership revenge register: over a photograph of a mother holding a shrouded child, the centrist Hamshahri carries the Leader of the Revolution (in current coverage…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Wednesday, 22 July 2026 (Day 141)

Day 141 is a ceasefire-without-peace edition: the single most consequential line is not a battle claim but a reported leadership boundary. Carried on the reformist Etemad and relayed by President Pezeshkian at an Industry-Day ceremony, the Leader (Mojtaba Khamenei) is said to have stressed that…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Tuesday, 21 July 2026 (Day 140)

Day 140 is a mediators-return edition: the cross-cutting development is that the diplomatic track, which the prior cycle's hardline press worked to delegitimize, is back at the top of the front pages, and the significant move is the split over how to frame it. The government's English daily Iran…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Monday, 20 July 2026 (Day 139)

Day 139 is a diplomacy-on-trial edition: the single cross-cutting story is Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's recent interview on the war and negotiation, and the edition's most significant move is what the hardline press did with it. Sobh-e Iranian devotes its whole front page to a rebuttal, built…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Sunday, 19 July 2026 (Day 138)

Day 138 is a message-discipline edition: a single statement from the Leader (in current coverage, Mojtaba Khamenei), issued on the occasion of a mass funeral and farewell procession for the martyred predecessor (Ali Khamenei, assassinated 28 February 2026), occupies the lead position on nearly…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Saturday, 18 July 2026 (Day 137)

Day 137 is the day the retaliation logic acquired a doctrine. After a fresh round of US strikes on southern Iran (the coast, Lorestan, the Makran shore, and the Bambour Garrison at Iranshahr), the front pages move in near-unison from 'we were attacked' to 'we answer infrastructure with…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Thursday, 16 July 2026 (Day 135)

Day 135 is the day the hardline press stopped asking whether the ceasefire had collapsed and simply declared it dead. Vatan-e Emrooz's masthead reads 'Full-Scale War' and states that the Islamabad memorandum (the 17 June framework) 'has effectively been set aside'; Nobonyad and Kayhan tell readers…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Wednesday, 15 July 2026 (Day 134)

Day 134 reads as the day the ceasefire visibly cracked. After a night of two-way strikes, Shargh asks on its banner whether this is 'The Start of the Fourth Imposed War?' and Etemad calls the Strait 'at Boiling Point' following a heavy exchange of fire between Iran and America. The single…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Tuesday, 14 July 2026 (Day 133)

Day 133 shows the confrontation widening from a single-chokepoint standoff into a two-sided maritime-siege contest. The day's defining artifact is Vatan-e Emrooz's full-page 'Now, Yemen,' printed over an image of crowds boarding an Iranian Mahan Air jet on a Yemeni runway: nearly every hardline…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Monday, 13 July 2026 (Day 132)

Day 132 is dominated by a single death and a single chokepoint. The sudden death of US Senator Lindsey Graham, one of Washington's most prominent Iran hawks and a close ally of Netanyahu, has been seized across the Iranian press as apparent proof that the successor Leader's vengeance threat is…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Sunday, 12 July 2026 (Day 131)

Day 131 turns on two developments the monitor has been waiting for. First, and of the highest significance, the successor Leader has broken his silence: for the first time since his father's assassination on 28 February, Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei has issued a public message, and it dominates the…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Saturday, 11 July 2026 (Day 130)

Day 130 closes the arc the monitor has followed since the assassination: the martyred Leader of the Revolution, named on the government fronts as Seyyed Ali Khamenei, was interred at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad, ending an unprecedented multi-city, multi-nation funeral. All eight Persian fronts…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Thursday, 9 July 2026 (Day 128)

Day 128 sharpens the split the monitor has tracked since the burial began. On paper it is still the funeral, and it has crossed a border: all eight Persian fronts and the English carry-over are locked on the Iraqi leg of the rites, the millions-strong Najaf and Karbala procession that Kayhan…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Wednesday, 8 July 2026 (Day 127)

Day 127 splits in two. On paper it is still the funeral: all eight Persian fronts and the English carry-over are locked on the Qom rites, Ayatollah Javadi Amoli's tearful prayer at Jamkaran, and a vengeance liturgy that Hamshahri prints as the blood-cry 'Ya la-Tharat al-Khamenei' and Kayhan tops…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Tuesday, 7 July 2026 (Day 126)

Day 126 catches the funeral at its hinge. Monday's three-day Tehran procession (15 Tir / 6 July) closed with the fronts converging on a single claim, that it was the largest funeral in history, and on a single instruction for how to read it: not as grief but as a verdict. Farhikhtegan calls the…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Saturday, 4 July 2026 (Day 123)

Day 123 is the day the four-month-deferred funeral of Ali Khamenei finally fills every front page. The six Persian fronts that reached the kiosk (several dailies appear to have skipped editions for the declared Tehran holiday) are a single choreography in different registers: Kayhan's 'Khamenei…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Thursday, 2 July 2026 (Day 121)

The Iranian press on 11 Tir 1405 (2 July 2026), Day 121, is consumed by the eve of the martyred former Leader Ali Khamenei's funeral: the largest state mobilization since the war began. The machinery is now fully visible in print: 150,000 police on alert (Kayhan), the Red Crescent staged for 4…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Wednesday, 1 July 2026 (Day 120)

The Iranian press on 10 Tir 1405 (1 July 2026), Day 120, is dominated by a single, unifying event: the state farewell and funeral rites for the martyred former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, staged as a national and cross-border act of mobilization. Hamshahri's full-bleed cover, the day's strongest…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Tuesday, 30 June 2026 (Day 119)

The Iranian press on 9 Tir 1405 (30 June 2026), Day 119, carries forward the post-war 'accountability and revenge' line set in motion by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei's Judiciary Week directive, but sharpens it from a legal-prosecution message into an explicit threat of retribution. Hamshahri's…

Analysis

Iranian Press Monitor - Monday, 29 June 2026 (Day 118)

The Iranian press on 8 Tir 1405 (29 June 2026) speaks with a single organizing voice: a Judiciary Week message from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei ordering the prosecution of US and Israeli officials for war crimes committed during the 2026 war. The message is carried, paraphrased or printed in…
